When you hear a song, what does it LOOK like? Colors, shapes, lines? Is it edgy or bouncy, colorful or dark? Those visuals were just what 4th graders were asked to think about in an art project they’ve recently started. Teacher, Mrs. Kusma first played a couple of songs and they talked through the vision together. They were asked how it made them feel and what colors they might associate with that feeling or what types of lines and shapes. Then, they were off to make their own musical art.
Each student was asked to think of their favorite song and what it might look like on paper. They could choose from a rainbow of colors for their background paper, then a variety of different paper scraps - some solid, others printed - and markers, crayons and other materials to put their musical thoughts on paper. Eventually, they’ll create a self-portrait with headphones to put over their backgrounds.
