A birthday party is filled with fun and creates memories that last a lifetime! But it can also be costly to put on that birthday party. That’s why our 2nd graders at Washington Street Elementary organized a service project to assemble birthday kits. “The goal of this program is to take the burden off families in need and provide them with a simple kit to make a cake and celebrate their child’s special day,” explains second grade teacher Mikala Brinkert.
The kits contain a cake mix, frosting, a pan, party decorations, theme plates and napkins, a card, candles and party favors. These are donated to Christian Neighbors. It’s all smiles on assembly day! “The kids love to put them together and pick out the perfect items to put in the bag.”
